THE REVIEW GAP

Unhappy customers review on their own. Happy ones stay quiet.

Psychology has a name for it: negativity bias. Frustration demands action. Satisfaction doesn't. So your rating drifts toward the bottom — not because your service is poor, but because no one asked at the right moment.

Research from BrightLocal shows that 77% of consumers read reviews before choosing a local business. And Google's own data shows that businesses with more than 50 reviews convert searchers to customers at nearly double the rate of businesses with fewer than 10.

The businesses winning the review game aren't doing anything unusual. They just ask — consistently, at the right moment, in the right way. ReviewMate does the asking for you.

01
🌐

Get your branded business page

In minutes, you have a beautiful page at reviewmate.ca/your-name — with your hours, location, testimonials, and a QR code ready to print. For many of our clients, it's the best website they've ever had.

↳ Works instantly as a progressive web app customers can save to their phone's home screen.

02
📲

Capture customers and their consent

Customers scan your QR code on the counter, enter their name and contact details, and tick a clear consent box. That's a CASL express consent record — the gold standard. Or add customers yourself: one at a time, by CSV, or send us photos of your guestbook and we'll upload them via AI weekly.

↳ Consent records are timestamped and versioned automatically.

03

Reviews arrive — genuinely

ReviewMate sends a polished, compliant email. The customer writes their review in their own words, it's saved as a testimonial your business owns, then they're guided with one tap to post it on Google, Facebook, and the platforms that matter for your type of business.

↳ One reminder follows after 3 days if they haven't opened it. Then we stop — no pestering.

YOUR BUSINESS PAGE

The fastest path from a happy customer to a published review

Most customers want to leave you a review — they just don't know how to find your Google page. Your ReviewMate page at reviewmate.ca/your-business fixes that. Customer scans your QR code, lands on your page, taps one button — and they're writing you a Google review. That's it.

  • One tap from your QR code lands customers directly on your Google Reviews page — no searching, no confusion
  • ReviewMate also collects their name and contact details (with consent) so you can follow up and ask for a review later
  • Works for any business type — restaurants, clinics, contractors, retail, and more
  • Print a QR code in one click — put it on your counter, receipts, or table tents
  • Customize your microsite with your brand's primary colour — it'll look like yours
  • More reviews on Google means more customers finding you — without paying for ads

THE AUTHOR-ONCE FLOW

Customers write once. Reviews appear everywhere.

The customer writes their review in their own words — no template, no canned copy. ReviewMate saves it as a testimonial your business owns forever, then copies it to their clipboard and guides them with one tap to Google, then Facebook, then wherever else matters.

No platform lets an app post reviews on a customer's behalf — and identical text across sites triggers spam filters. Our approach is the only compliant, spam-safe way to get reviews in multiple places from a single effort.

Genuine
Every word from the customer
Compliant
CASL & Competition Act safe
Yours
First-party testimonials for life
BUILT FOR CANADA

CASL is our problem. Not yours.

Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation is the strictest in North America. Unlike US-based tools that bolt on a vague disclaimer and call it done, ReviewMate was designed from the ground up with CASL, PIPEDA, and the Competition Act as non-negotiables.

📋
Express consent on every self-signup
When a customer fills out your microsite form, we capture the exact wording they agreed to, with a timestamp and IP address. That's the strongest consent CASL recognizes.
⏱️
Implied consent auto-expires
When you upload a customer list, we rely on the existing-business-relationship rule — and automatically age out that consent after 2 years, as the law requires.
🚫
Opt-outs are permanent and instant
A STOP reply or unsubscribe click goes into a permanent suppression ledger. That customer never hears from you again through ReviewMate, on any channel. Ever.
🆔
Compliant sender identification
Every message identifies ReviewMate as the sender on your behalf, includes a valid mailing address, and carries a working opt-out. No shortcuts.

Two rules we'll never break

🚫 We never write a review for your customer.
Customers always write in their own words. We offer prompts and examples clearly labelled as inspiration — never as text to copy or submit. The Competition Bureau and the FTC both prohibit fake and AI-generated reviews.
🚫 We never screen who gets to leave a public review.
Review-gating — sending only happy customers to Google and routing unhappy ones to a private form — is deceptive under Canadian law and against every platform's terms. Every customer gets the same path to every destination.
We built ReviewMate around these rules from day one — not as an afterthought. Every feature ships with compliance as a constraint, not a checkbox.
FROM CANADIAN BUSINESS OWNERS

"We were sitting at 3.9 stars for two years despite being genuinely packed every Friday night. Six weeks after launching ReviewMate, we hit 4.6. Bookings through Google jumped 30%. I wish I'd done this the day we opened."

"I was nervous about compliance — PHIPA, CASL, the works. ReviewMate's form doesn't ask for anything clinical, and the consent records are bulletproof. My patients' experience hasn't changed at all. My rating has gone from 4.1 to 4.8."

"Contractors live and die on HomeStars. I had 8 reviews after 11 years in business. I uploaded 60 past customers, sent requests, and had 22 reviews by the end of the month. The phone didn't stop ringing."

"The QR code on the mirror is genius. Clients are literally scanning it while their colour is processing. We've gone from 3 or 4 reviews a year to about 10 a month. Google is sending us clients we've never met."

"What sold me was the French language option and the CASL compliance. We serve a lot of French-speaking customers and I didn't want any legal exposure. ReviewMate handled it. Our TripAdvisor went from page 3 to page 1 in eight weeks."

"The doctor was skeptical of anything that would complicate patient relationships. Once she saw that the form collects zero health information and the consent language is airtight, she was fully on board. RateMDs has gone from 12 to 61 reviews."

The math is simple

If ReviewMate gets you even one extra table booking per week — roughly a $60 average cheque in Canada — that's $240/month in recovered revenue from a $49 investment. For a contractor landing one extra job quote per month, that's potentially thousands. The question isn't whether it's worth it. It's whether you can afford not to.

FAQ

Questions we hear all the time

ReviewMate was designed around CASL, the Competition Act, and PIPEDA. Businesses usually get in trouble by emailing without consent, gating unhappy customers away from public reviews, or paying for reviews — ReviewMate does none of these. This isn't legal advice, so confirm with Canadian counsel before launch.
Yelp's terms of service explicitly prohibit asking customers to leave a Yelp review, and their algorithm actively de-recommends reviews that appear solicited. Businesses that show signs of organized review solicitation can face a consumer warning banner on their page. Sending your customers to Yelp would harm your ranking there, not help it. We protect you from that mistake by design.
ReviewMate's clinic and medical capture forms collect only name, contact details, and an optional provider preference. We never collect a reason for visit, symptoms, diagnosis, or anything that would constitute health information under PHIPA (Ontario) or equivalent provincial legislation. Anything clinical stays in your own system. The consent language is also scoped to review requests only, not marketing.
Absolutely. Your ReviewMate microsite is separate from your existing website and optimized for one job: capturing customers and their consent, and showing testimonials. Many of our clients link to their ReviewMate page from their existing site, print the QR code for their counter, and still keep their main website for everything else.
You sign up, enter your card details, and get full access for 14 days at no charge. If you cancel before the 14 days are up, you're never charged. After 14 days, we charge C$49 + applicable tax for the first month, and monthly from then on. There's no contract and you can cancel any time through the billing portal.
That's completely fine. ReviewMate sends one initial request and at most one reminder, then stops. If a customer opts out at any point, they're added to a permanent suppression list and never contacted again. We don't chase or pester — that would reflect badly on your business, and we care about your reputation as much as you do.
ReviewMate's forms can be displayed in French (English and French toggled by the user), which addresses the Bill 96 requirement for French-language customer-facing experiences. Quebec's Law 25 also applies stricter consent requirements — our express consent model meets that bar. If you're serving a predominantly French-speaking market, we strongly recommend confirming the specific implementation with a Quebec privacy lawyer.
Yes — every account supports up to 9 team members. Each gets their own login and full dashboard access; only Billing is owner-only. Add or remove members anytime from the Team Members section in your dashboard.
ReviewMate uses the official Google Places API to sync your Google Reviews to your microsite automatically — no scraping, nothing that breaks Google's terms. You can also add reviews from RateMDs, HomeStars, Tripadvisor, or Facebook yourself. One rule: Canadian competition law requires you to represent reviews honestly, so show the full picture — balanced profiles earn more trust, not less.
Yes — both email and SMS review requests are live. Messages are sent from ReviewMate's verified Canadian toll-free number on your behalf, are fully CASL-compliant, and include one-tap STOP opt-out. You can reach each customer by email, by SMS, or both. Email is the default channel, but SMS often gets faster responses.
Yes. In the microsite editor inside your dashboard, you can set a primary colour that applies to buttons and accents on your page. Your microsite looks like yours — not a generic tool. No design skills needed — just enter a hex code or pick from the colour picker.
Most businesses are up and running in under 5 minutes on their own. But if you want a hand, you can book a free 30-minute call with the ReviewMate team right from your dashboard (Support section). We review your setup before the call and make sure everything is ready to go by the time you hang up.
Absolutely. ReviewMate is a Canadian company, founded and operated in Canada. Our CEO and CTO regularly meet business owners at events across the country — if you spot us, come say hello. Billing is in Canadian dollars, we understand Canadian law (CASL, PIPEDA, the Competition Act) from the inside, and we're reachable at hello@reviewmate.ca.
Yes — ReviewMate is fully bilingual. Every page of the public site, dashboard, and customer microsite can be displayed in French or English. Just click FR/EN in the navigation to switch. Your language choice is remembered for your entire session. Emails sent to your customers are also bilingual — English and French text appear in the same message so every customer understands.
Included: your tagline, description, hours, testimonials, synced Google reviews, a capture form with CASL consent, action buttons (booking, quote, appointment requests), your brand colour, and a printable QR code. Deliberately not included: online payments, ads, third-party trackers, any link to Yelp, and any review gating. The microsite does one job, fast: turning a happy customer into a published review. It's not a website replacement — it's the shortest path from your counter to your Google page.
The entire microsite interface — buttons, labels, the capture form, and the consent wording — is fully bilingual and follows the visitor's choice (EN/FR toggle in the header). Your own content (tagline, description, services) appears exactly as you write it: many of our clients simply write it in both languages, e.g. "Local comfort food · Cuisine locale." You can also add dedicated French versions of your tagline and description in the microsite editor — visitors browsing in French see them automatically.
